Let's open this post by freely admitting that I was a less than stellar Young Woman. I rather enjoyed ruffling feathers; I was rebellious at almost every chance; I was very good at being a teenager (eye rolls and sarcastic comments were a specialty).
Last Sunday, I was sustained and set apart as the new Beehive Advisor at church (the Beehives are the 12-13 year old young women in our congregation). I will also freely admit that my stomach did some somersaults as I pondered this new calling. I still do not feel adequate to help guide these wonderful youth that I see. However, I am very grateful for the chance to learn and to serve. After spending an hour in class with all the young women on Sunday, I can tell you that my eyes were filled with tears many times. I can already tell that this calling is much more for me than for them.
I have already started diving into the Personal Progress manual. I am extremely excited to gain a stronger testimony of the Young Women Values: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. I know for certain that a lack of understanding in so many of these areas is what turned me away from the church for several years. How grateful I am to now KNOW that I am a daughter of God, that he loves and knows ME. How grateful I am to now KNOW that purity, honesty, charity, and such are ever so much more important than popularity. How grateful I am to have moved on to a beautiful new phase of life.
So, here I go! Head first into new territory. Wish me luck! (And advise is always welcome:)

I am SO excited for you!
So many thoughts when through my head as I read this. First of all, YOU are going to be AWESOME!
You will be able to be a "real" leader, you will be able to relate to them, set an example for them and also UNDERSTAND their struggles.
Good for you, I can't wait to hear more.
